الوصف
The novel presents the clever and determined Ann Whitefield and the reluctant bachelor John Tanner. Ann pursues Tanner not out of romance alone, but as part of Shaw’s idea of the “Life Force” driving human evolution. Tanner resists marriage, valuing freedom, yet finds himself gradually outmaneuvered by Ann’s intelligence and will. The play shows that human relationships are shaped by deeper biological and social forces not only by individual choice.
