The Island of Dr. Moreau follows Edward Prendick, a castaway who is rescued and taken to a remote island ruled by the mysterious scientist Dr. Moreau. Moreau conducts disturbing experiments, transforming animals into human-like creatures through painful surgical procedures. These “Beast Folk” struggle to follow imposed laws that suppress their animal instincts. As their behavior deteriorates, the fragile order on the island collapses into chaos and violence.
